This gorgeous butterfly has been hand crafted using the copper foil method, and lead free silver solder. I used purple iridescent water glass and streaky purple (stained glass) for the wings, and hand cast and sculpted the body. I then use decorative soldering techniques to add details like eyes, antennae, and the body segments. Silver coated copper wire is used to add detail to the lower wings. The butterfly measures about 5″ x 51/2″

The little wire legs are bendable so this beautiful symbol of transformation can be hung like a mobile from a fan so little children can enjoy it as well as adults, or hung in a window to show off the beautiful purple colour in the wings. the legs bend so that the butterfly can be tilted to shed different shades of purple and cast rainbows across the room.
